Join the Australian Teacher Education Association in an insightful panel to discuss racism in the classroom in the context of the current political and social climate.
Despite anti-racism laws and policies, racism unfortunately remains part of everyday life in Australia, impacting many individuals and groups from different cultural backgrounds. The panel will respond to a series of questions that focus on racism that is experienced by Indigenous Australians at personal, social, systemic, political and institutional levels. The panel will be asked to provide their views on the impact of racism, strategies to address racism in classrooms, and discuss a means of going forward in making a difference. This discussion will include unpacking the power of racism.
