ATEA 2020 Conference Cancelled

3 May 2020 1:51 PM | Anonymous member (Administrator)

Colleagues,

The TEFANZ/ATEA Conference planned for July 8-10 in Auckland, NZ is cancelled.  Our decision to cancel has come in response to the worldwide and evolving international responses to the Novel Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19).  We understand that institutions and individuals are making decisions to preserve health, wellbeing and safety, and to curb the spread of the disease.  We cannot in all good faith proceed with our conference plans in the knowledge that the conference’s viability is currently compromised as a result of these events, and we could put attendees at risk if social transmission increases, travel plans are disrupted, insurance coverage is withdrawn and so forth.

We are very sad to be in this situation however feel a responsibility to move ahead with certainty so people can plan ahead and remain safe and well. We will be in a position to refund any early-bird registrations already received.

We received a large number of excellent quality submissions and remain grateful for these. In the coming days we will be in touch with further information about other opportunities for sharing our teacher education research and scholarship being currently explored.

For now, warm wishes and best regards.

Fiona Ell, Conference Chair,

Robyn Brandenburg, ATEA President,

Joce Nuttall, ATEA Rep. Conference Committee

Alex Gunn, TEFANZ Chair.
